Batik is an Indonesian word that roughly translates as "writing with wax." Dye-resistant wax is brushed onto fabrics in the desired patterns. The pre-waxed fabrics are then dipped into dyes, or else hand-painting with wet dyes. Wherever the wax is - the dye will not be, and vice-versa! Successive layers are added from lightest to darkest dye colors, while applying new wax patterns to each color. The resulting fabrics make beautiful designs to use as batik quilting panels.

Our shipping rates for batik quilt panels are based on the value of the order before sale discounts, if any, are applied - in other words, shipping is based on the total of the batik quilt panels regular prices. Because it is so difficult to determine exact shipping costs of batik quilting panels based on an order total, the shipping charge that is applied to your batik quilt fabrics order at the time of checkout may be a little higher than necessary. We will refund the difference to your charge card if the shipping+handling costs for your batik quilt fabrics order are less than anticipated.
